The Maritime Law Career Fair (MLCF) 2018
REPORTER: IJIDOLAPO SUCCESS IJIWOYE
Birthed out of earnest concern for the growing number of unemployed and underemployed Lawyers in our Nation Nigeria, the Space Hub in conjunction with the Nigerian Maritime Law Association (Young Maritime Forum) organized an event themed ‘The Maritime Law Career Fair – A Learning and Intense Networking Session’.
The sole aim of the event was to further enlighten the over three hundred plus (then) Nigerian Law School Students, University Students and legal Practitioners who indicated interest in this seemingly cloaked but lush field of Law and the general Shipping and Maritime sector, to unveil it by learning from and meeting with existing distinguished practitioners in this field.
With the networking session lasting for about one hour and thirty minutes, the feedback has been fulfilling. Many Students have reported back with gratitude to us as some have gotten internship opportunities, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) placements.
In the same vein, we at the Space Hub extend our profound gratitude to the Nigerian Law School Lagos Campus Authority for their immense understanding and guidance during the planning and execution of this project. Also, to our highly supportive and the ever progressive Nigerian Maritime Law Association (Young Lawyers Forum), who were incredibly instrumental to the success of the project, we say THANK YOU!
